Check Lists

Check list for the Central Europe

Czech Rep., Slovakia, Austria - fixed lenght (ID number, short cut, encoded full species name)

New check list for Czech users

Cornell condensed files used for import of tables contain only short cuts of species names. However, the JUICE program allows to display full species names, if you have a text form of the check list (it can be exported from TURBOVEG). We have prepared a special check list for Czech users, which has a nomenclature of Kubát et al. (2002): Klíč ke květeně České republiky. Academia, Praha. This nomenclature is also used in Expert system for classification of Czech vegetation data.

KUBAT10.TXT (2008-11-18)
KUBAT11.TXT (2010-03-23)

KUBAT2015.TXT (2015-01-29)

For those who will prefer to use the newer check list published as Danihelka J. et al. (2012): Checklist of vascular plants of the Czech republic, please download this file:

DANIHELKA2012.TXT (2021-12-13) - few new rare species were added to the list (file name: Checklist-Danihelka-et-al-2012-v2021-12-13-updated-IK.txt).

Check list for EuroVegChecklist expert system (2014-01-08)

DOWNLOAD. Check list is encrypted and can be used only within the JUICE program. It contains a list of 19,758 taxa records and their affilitation to 95 vegetation classes of European Vegetation Classification. If you will use it, cite the paper:

Indicator values for the Europe

Two parallel approaches

Ellenberg-type indicator values: a merge of 12 regional datasets that have been proven to be consistent with Ellenberg scales, with values for additional species calculated based on species co-occurrences in vegetation; six indicators: light, temperature, moisture, soil reaction, nutrients, salinity; scales 1–9, 1–12 and 0–9 (the same as in Ellenberg indicator values); 8,679 European vascular plant species and 229 aggregates

Newly constructed indicator values: merged 31 local datasets; five indicators: light, temperature, humidity, soil reaction, nitrogen; scale 0–10 for all indicators; 11,147 european vascular plant species, 724 aggregates and 2,964 other taxa

Lists of indicator values useful in the JUICE program are available HERE. Spreadsheet file in ZENODO repository is HERE. A user‐friendly data set for analyses that combines Ellenberg‐type indicator values developed here with disturbance indicator values for European plants developed by Midolo et al. (2023) can be downloaded at https://floraveg.eu/download/.

Lists of indicator values useful in the JUICE program are available HERE. The full list of species with indicator values and niche widths is available HERE.

New European-scale indicator values (Ellenberg-type scale) for hydrological conditions in peatlands, supplemented by species tolerances. The list contains most vascular plant and bryophytes occurring in European fens and bogs and most synonyms and aggregates used in Turboveg cheklists. The list with indicator values for drought (in)tolerance, moisture optimum (conventional Ellenberg-like value) and flooding tolerance can be downloaded from the ZIPPED FILE (if it cannot be downloaded, click on it by right mouse button). The list with species tolerances (niche widths) to be used as weights when uploaded as Species Data can be downloaded HERESource: Hajek et al., submitted (will be updated).

New indicator values for the Czech Republic (Ellenberg indicator scale; 2018/04/12 –

(Chytrý M., Tichý L., Dřevojan P., Sádlo J. & Zelený D. 2018. Ellenberg-type indicator values for the Czech flora. – Preslia 90: 83–103.). A dataset of indicator values for the Czech flora, with taxon names following Danihelka et al. (2012, Preslia 84: 647–811). Download HERE.

Ellenberg indicator scales

All users of KUBAT10.TXT check list can download an improved file with Ellenberg indicator values prepared by Milan Chytry here. All other users can use ELLENB.TXT file with original Ellenberg indicator values. Warrning! The nomenclature of this file need not fit with your data. The import must be corrected manually.

New indicator scale for Continentality (2017/03/01 - author: Christian Berg)

(Berg C.,Welk E. & Jäger E. J. 2017. Revising Ellenberg’s indicator values for continentality based on global vascular plant species distribution. – Appl. Veg. Sci. 20: 482–493.)

New indicator values for continentality (C-values) were proposed. The download-file C-VALUES.txt can be used in JUICE in the same way like the file ELLENB.txt. It contains all Ellenberg-Indicator values, but the new c-values instead of Ellenberg’s continentality values. The nomenclature has been adapted more into the direction of the C-Europe-Turboveg-species list.
