Junco trifidi-Empetretum hermaphroditi

This community of dwarf shrubs is dominated by Empetrum hermaphroditum. It is rarely found in small stands on the wind-swept summits of the Hrubý Jeseník Mountains, where it usually occurs on the edges of isolated rock outcrops or screes.

Diagnostic species: Avenella flexuosa, Empetrum nigrum s. l. (E. hermaphroditum), Festuca supina, Huperzia selago, Juncus trifidus, Melampyrum sylvaticum, Vaccinium myrtillus, V. vitis-idaea; Cetraria islandica, Cladonia uncialis, Dicranum fuscescens, Polytrichastrum alpinum, Racomitrium lanuginosum, Racomitrium sudeticum

Constant species: Avenella flexuosa, Empetrum nigrum s. l. (E. hermaphroditum), Vaccinium myrtillus, V. vitis-idaea; Cetraria islandica, Pleurozium schreberi, Polytrichum piliferum

Dominant species: Empetrum nigrum s. l. (E. hermaphroditum)

Formal definition: Empetrum nigrum s. l. cover > 25% NOT Group Eriophorum vaginatum NOT Vaccinium uliginosum cover > 25 % NOT Vaccinium vitis-idaea cover > 50 %
