Pado borealis-Sorbetum aucupariae

This is a rare subalpine shrub community dominated by Prunus padus subsp. borealis and Sorbus aucuparia subsp. glabrata. In the Czech Republic, it is found on avalanche tracks in the glacial cirques of the western Krkonoše Mountains. It occurs at wetter sites than the Salici silesiacae-Betuletum carpaticae.

Syn.: Ribo petraeae-Prunetum petraeae Hueck 1939 (§ 2b, nomen nudum), Pado-Sorbetum Matuszkiewicz 1965 prov. (§ 3b)

Diagnostic species: Lonicera nigra, Prunus padus subsp. borealis, Ribes petraeum, Salix silesiaca, Sorbus aucuparia, S. sudetica; Adenostyles alliariae, Athyrium distentifolium, Avenella flexuosa, Calamagrostis villosa, Cicerbita alpina, Gentiana asclepiadea, Gymnocarpium dryopteris, Paris quadrifolia, Rumex arifolius, Solidago virgaurea, Trientalis europaea

Constant species: Lonicera nigra, Ribes petraeum, Salix silesiaca, Sorbus aucuparia; Adenostyles alliariae, Athyrium distentifolium, Avenella flexuosa, Calamagrostis arundinacea, C. villosa, Cicerbita alpina, Dryopteris dilatata, D. filix-mas, Gentiana asclepiadea, Gymnocarpium dryopteris, Paris quadrifolia, Rubus idaeus, Rumex arifolius, Senecio nemorensis agg., Solidago virgaurea, Trientalis europaea

Dominant species: Prunus padus subsp. borealis, Sorbus aucuparia, S. sudetica

Formal definition: Prunus padus subsp. borealis cover > 25 % AND Group Betula carpatica NOT Sorbus aucuparia cover > 25 %
