Salicetum lapponum Zlatník 1928

Salicetum lapponum

This association includes patchy stands of the shrubby willow Salix lapponum – a glacial relict of arctic origin in the Krkonoše and Hrubý Jeseník Mountains. It occurs in wet places around springs, in depressions with heavy snow accumulation, and on the margins of mires in the subalpine belt.

Diagnostic species: Salix lapponum; Aconitum plicatum, Adenostyles alliariae, Bistorta major, Calamagrostis villosa, Cicerbita alpina, Crepis paludosa, Ligusticum mutellina, Rumex arifolius, Swertia perennis, Trientalis europaea, Veratrum album subsp. lobelianum, Viola biflora; Brachythecium reflexum, Dichodontium palustre, Philonotis seriata, Rhizomnium punctatum, Scapania uliginosa, Sphagnum squarrosum

Constant species: Salix lapponum; Adenostyles alliariae, Bistorta major, Calamagrostis villosa, Chaerophyllum hirsutum, Cicerbita alpina, Crepis paludosa, Deschampsia cespitosa, Oxalis acetosella, Rumex arifolius, Trientalis europaea, Veratrum album subsp. lobelianum, Viola biflora; Rhizomnium punctatum

Dominant species: Salix lapponum; Deschampsia cespitosa; Sphagnum cuspidatum, S. squarrosum

Formal definition: Salix lapponum cover > 25 % AND (Group Aconitum plicatum OR Group Trientalis europaea OR Group Veratrum *lobelianum)
