Project summary

Laboratory of proteomics was established at Department of Biochemistry in 2001. Generally, proteomics is focused on the determination of complex protein composition of cells, tissues and body fluids in single analysis including quantitation of individual proteins. Proteomics also includes comparison of protein expression under different biological conditions and identification of biomarkers of various physiological and pathological processes.

Our own projects are currently focused mainly on:

-Study of molecular mechanisms of metastasis in cancer to improve treatment

-Targeted proteomics of breast cancer (selected reaction monitoring, SRM; data independent acquisition, DIA)

-Interactome analysis in cancer development and metastasis

In collaboration with other groups, we realize a proteomics parts of the following projects:

-The study of molecular mechanisms of bacterial adaptation on environmental changes

-The study of adaptation processes in bacterium Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans

The Laboratory runs its own tissue culture lab and laboratories of biochemistry, proteomics and molecular biology. Proteomics analyses are based on 1D, 2D and 3D liquid chromatography - mass spectrometry techniques. High resolution two-dimensional gel electrophoresis, gel image analysis and infrastructure for data processing is also available. RT-qPCR and western blot techniques can be used of validation of proteomics data. Pharos FX Pro scanner allows detecting of florescence staining on the presence of phosphoproteins and glycoproteins.
