---------------------------------------------------------------------
                    Announcing XFree86/OS2 - 3.2

The first unlimited and public version of XFree86 for OS/2, Release 3.2
is now generally available.

What is XFree86/OS2?
--------------------
XFree86/OS2 is a full and unrestricted client and server version of the
X11 Window System running natively under OS/2 Warp and Merlin. It is
available in a binary version and also, with the issue of version 3.2, the
full source code can now be obtained from public archives.

This code is copyrighted software, but may be used without any constraints
or payment of royalties by *anyone* including companies. If you find it
useful, though, you might consider making a donation to The XFree86
Project[tm] in order to help them continuing their work (see
    http://www.xfree86.org for details).

XFree86-3.2 contains the latest available code from the X Consortium, and
    is based on X11R6.1.

For further information on XFree86, see the following page:
        http://www.xfree86.org/

For information on the OS/2 implementation, see the following page:
        http://borneo.gmd.de/~veit/os2/xf86os2.html

What is new compared to older beta versions?
--------------------------------------------
    - no time limit, source available
    - support of new hardware, including
      - Matrox Millenium
      - S3 ViRGE
    - national keyboard handling (XKB) now works
    - numerous bug fixes

Where to obtain?
----------------
    Primary archive is ftp://ftp.xfree86.org/pub/XFree86/3.2/binaries/OS2, but
this is now, since XFree86-3.2 is publicly available, usually overloaded.
Many XFree86 mirrors also carry the OS/2 distribution.

See http://borneo.gmd.de/~veit/os2/xf86os2.html for a list of available
archives. This list will be updated in the next few days. It is expectable
that in a few days, the prominent OS/2 FTP servers hobbes.nmsu.edu and
    ftp.leo.org will carry the files.

What are the requirements?
--------------------------
    - 486/66, Pentium, Pentium/Pro with at least 16MB RAM, the more
      and faster, the better
    - 30-60MB disk space on a HPFS partition or other file system
that allows long file names (mandatory)
    - video card which is supported by XFree86

    - OS/2 Warp (all kinds) with at least Fixpack 17, or OS/2 Merlin
    - TCP/IP (>=2.0, IAK, Connect, Warp Server, Merlin)
    - EMX 0.9C fix1 (runtime available with distribution)
