The main topics of current research include:
- macroecological patterns in plant communities and local floras, large-scale gradients of diversity and their relationships to local and regional ecological processes
- development of new methods of data sampling and analysis for vegetation science and community ecology and their software implementations
- critical revision of the national vegetation classification for the Czech Republic
- international cooperation in vegetation survey and vegetation databanking (especially with countries of central and southern Europe and Taiwan)
- diversity of Siberian ecosystems and its relationships to diversity of Full Glacial and Early Holocene ecosystems of northern Eurasia
- invasibility of plant communities and large areas by alien species
In 2008 we organized the 17th International Workshop European Vegetation Survey: conference website
