Fascination of Plants Day
Our department once again hosted the traditional Fascination of Plants Day, offering visitors a variety of interesting insights into the world of plants.
How are plants propagated under in vitro conditions?
What happens to plant pigments when the pH changes?
And how do scientists investigate the effects of environmental toxicity on plants?
Visitors had the opportunity not only to learn about these topics during Fascination of Plants Day, but also to try many of the activities themselves.
At individual stations, they explored various areas of plant research and, at the end of the event, tested their newly acquired knowledge in a themed quiz. As a reward, each participant received their own carnivorous plant.
The programme also included a short tour of our greenhouse, where we introduced the plants we cultivate and explained their role in our research. Visitors could also take part in a plant swap, exchanging one of our plants for one of their own.
