GAMU - New Calls 2020 for Researchers

Grant Agency of Masaryk University aims to support the university research teams, enhance the prestige of research work, to increase success rate in obtaining international prestigious grants and to encourage interdisciplinary innovative research.

New calls for researchers are open for the following categories:

  • INTERDISCIPLINARY Research Projects
  • MASH - MUNI Award in Science and Humanities
  • MASH JUNIOR - MUNI Award in Science and Humanities JUNIOR
  • CAREER RESTART - Support for Integration of Researchers After a Career Break

New Guideline for GAMU is valid since September 14th, 2020 including the details of each category and rules.

Interdisciplinary research projects (INTERDISCIPLINARY)

The aim is to initiate interdisciplinary cooperation on new topics; generate preliminary results to verify the feasibility of ambitious interdisciplinary projects; prepare "groundwork" for applications for external grants (ERC Synergy, etc.). Project proposals can be submitted to ISEP from 1 October 2020.

Expected number of supported projects: 3 projects

Annual budget for the project: CZK 2 million / whole year (total CZK 5.5 million for the period 1.4.2021-31.12.2023)

Project duration: 33 months

Timeline:

Deadline for submission of proposals approved by the faculty: 30.11.2020

Evaluation: 1.122020-28.2.2021

Starting date: 1.4.2021

End of project realisation: 31.12.2023

All required documents are inserted into the ISEP system in the format of one pdf file. Fill in all the requisites of the project proposal in the Project proposal form and fill in the budget in detail in the 'Budget' tab. Then upload the complete project proposal in PDF format to the 'Documents' folder next to the electronically approved guide. Personal delivery of documents to the RMU is therefore not required.

The project must be closed in ISEP at the time of the call deadline.

MUNI Award in Science and Humanities (MASH)

The main goal of the MUNI Award in Science and Humanities (MASH) is to bring excellent and successful external scientists to Masaryk University and offer them the conditions to stay motivated, work for Masaryk University and create exceptionally high-quality scientific results in the long run.

We offer MUNI Award holders:

  • Employment contract for 3 years, in case of successful evaluation after 3 years, the contract can be extended for 5 years and then for an indefinite period
  • CZK 5 million / year for a period of 5 years (total CZK 25 million)
  • Office and laboratory facilities for the research team
  • Welcome service and administrative support

Timeline:

Deadline for submission of proposals approved by the faculty: 31.12.2020

Evaluation, interview, negotiation: 1.1.2021-30.4.2021

Starting date: 2021 (according to negotiation)

MUNI Award in Science and Humanities JUNIOR (MASH JUNIOR)

The main goal of the MUNI Award in Science and Humanities JUNIOR (hereinafter referred to as MASH JUNIOR) is to create conditions for the timely achievement of autonomy in research by extremely promising researchers shortly after Ph.D .; accelerating the career progression of talented scientists; facilitating the preparation of prestigious grants, strengthening the "brain circulation". Successful project promoters must have a clear potential to succeed in the ERC competition. An important aspect of this type of grant support is the motivation of workplaces to invest in extraordinary scientific talents, whose current scientific history may or may not be connected with MU.

Allocation: Estimated number of grants awarded: 6-9 grants per year

Annual budget: CZK 2 million / year

Duration of funding: 3 years with the possibility of extension for another 2 years

Deadline for submission of proposals approved by the faculty: 31.12.2020

Evaluation, interview, negotiation: 1.1.2021-30.4.2021

Starting date: 2021 (according to negotiation)
