I. New Successful Projects
Prof. Petr Vašina (Dept. of Plasma Physics and Technology) succeeded in HEU call Pathway for Synergies with his grant entitled as “Central European Platform for Plasma-enabled Surface Engineering (COLLOSE)”. The grant worth almost 500 000 EUR will connect three Czech and Slovak research facilities in the area of plasma-enabled surface engineering with aim to increase their participation in Horizon Europe and future EU Framework Programmes for R&I.
These projects succeeded in 7th Environment for Life Call:
- Bc. Barbora Loskotová, Ph.D. (Dept. of Botany and Zoology) will be become part of new project “Microplastics in surface waters - identification, quantification and pathway analysis”.
- Libor Petr, Ph.D. (Dept. of Botany and Zoology) will be become part of new project “Paleoecology for nature conservation”.
- Mgr. Pavel Sťahel, Ph.D. (Dept. Of Plasma Physics and Technology) will be become part of new project “Complex solution of small domestic WWTP with an emphasis on the removal of phosphorus and micropollutants”.
Mgr. Pavel Novák, Ph.D. (Dept. Of Botany and Zoology) succeeded in call of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the CR with his proposal “Forest habitats of Georgia in an EU environmental perspective”.

HORIZON EUROPE and OTHER INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS
- FEBS Excellence Awards (FEBS): funding of 100,000 EUR for early-career group leaders for research equipment and consumables over a 3-year period. More information is available HERE. Application period is 1.4.-1.7.2024.
- JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship for Research in Japan (JSPS, AV ČR): funds travel and maintenance costs related to mobility of young postdocs (who hold PhD no longer than 6 years) for 1-2 years to conduct collaborative research in Japan. More information available HERE. Deadline: 14.4.2024.
- EMBO Installation grant (EMBO): annual grant of 50,000 EUR for 3-5 years for a new groupleaders (must apply or hold this position no longer than 2 years). More details are HERE. Deadline: 15.4.2024.
- ERC Advanced (Horizon Europe): Five years long funding of up to 2,5 mil. EUR to pursue a ground-breaking, ambitious project led by excellent scientists with track-record of significant research achievements in the last 10 years. More information available HERE. Indicative deadline: 29.8.2024.
- Advanced Collaboration Grants (EMBO): funds the visits of 1 week to 6 months in the lab of collaborator in EMBO participating country to work on joint collaborative project with biological significance. More details are available HERE. Deadline: anytime.
- OSCARS – Open Science Clusters´ Action for Research & Society: supports innovative projects and services for Open Science, funding up to 250,000 EUR per project. More details are available HERE. Deadline: 15.5.2024.
- MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships (2023/24) - the goal of MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships is to enhance the creative and innovative potential of researchers holding a PhD and who wish to acquire new skills through advanced training, international, inter-sectoral and interdisciplinary mobility. III. Other News
GA CR
- In the GA CR 2025 call, the applicants from the Faculty of Science submitted a total of 134 proposals:
- 101 Standard grant proposals (65 of them as a principal investigator)
- 11 EXPRO proposals (9 of them as a principal investigator)
- 6 JUNIOR STAR proposals
- 13 Bilateral and LA Grants proposals (9 of them as a principal investigator)
- 3 POSTDOC INDIVIDUAL FELLOWSHIP proposals
MEYS
- The MEYS is looking for expert evaluators for the evaluation of project proposals (program INTER-EXCELLENCE II). More information HERE.
HORIZON EUROPE
- Republic of Korea will join the countries associated with the Horizon Europe programme. Association Agreement due to be signed in mid-2024 and effective from 2025. Projects in Pillar II (clusters 1-6) possible. More information HERE.
