I. New Successful Projects
Assoc. Prof. Ivan Kushkevych (Dept. Of Experimental Biology) will coordinate the collaboration of six central European institutions funded by Visegrad fund. Project entitled as “Exchange of Knowledge Concerning Ecological and Sustainable Packaging” will create a platform for collaboration and knowledge sharing with aim to accelerate the application and further achievements in the new packaging formula.
Mgr. Matej Fekete, Ph.D. (Dept. of Plasma Physics and Technology) has received funding for a new Czech-German project (MOBILTY, MEYS)
There are 2 new TAČR projects Biodiversity Partnership starting at the Faculty of Science in the year 2024:
Mgr. Karel Brabec, Ph.D. (Dept. of Geography) DNAquaIMG: Innovating transnational aquatic biodiversity monitoring using high-throughput DNA tools and automated image recognition (BIODIVERSA+). The team is involved in research collaboration of eleven European countries focusing on freshwater biodiversity. Aquatic invertebrates and diatoms will be investigated using molecular methods and image analysis.
prof. RNDr. Milan Chytrý, Ph.D. (Dept. of Botany and Zoology) Monitoring of terrestrial habitats by integrating vegetation archive time series in Europe.

HORIZONT EUROPE and OTHER INTERNATIONAL PROJECT
- MSCA Staff Exchanges (Horizon Europe): supports international, inter-sectoral and interdisciplinary mobility within the consortium working on joint research project of min. 3 institutions from min. 3 countries. More information available HERE. Deadline: 28.2.2024.
- Execellence Hubs (Horizon Europe): building networks of place-based innovation ecosystems in Widening countries involving large communities of actors (academia, business, government and society). Indicative budget 2-6 mil. EUR. More information available HERE. Deadline: 7.3.2024.
- ERA Chairs (Horizon Europe): provides 1,5-2,5 mil. EUR for 5 years to an outstanding researcher and/or innovator in the chosen research field who will help to establish permanent and excellent research group and increase the quality and visibility of the research at host institution. - EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowship (EMBO): competitive salary and other support for 2 years for postdoc in Life Sciences who holds PhD for no longer than 2 years. More details are available HERE. Deadline: 9.2.2024.
- EIC Pathfinder Open (Horizon Europe): collaborative projects of small consortium, no pre-defined topics. Supports high-risk/high-gain science leading to radically new technology (TRL1-4). More details available HERE. Deadline: 3.3.2024.
- FEBS Excellence Awards (FEBS): funding of 100,000 EUR for early-career group leaders for research equipment and consumables over a 3-year period. More information is available HERE. Application period is 1.4.-1.7.2024.
- JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship for Research in Japan (JSPS, AV ČR): funds travel and maintenance costs related to mobility of young postdocs (who hold PhD no longer than 6 years) for 1-2 years to conduct collaborative research in Japan. More information available HERE. Deadline: 14.4.2024.
- EMBO Installation grant (EMBO): annual grant of 50,000 EUR for 3-5 years for a new groupleaders (must apply or hold this position no longre than 2 years). More details are HERE. Deadline: 15.4.2024.
- ERC Advanced (Horizon Europe): Five years long funding of up to 2,5 mil. EUR to pursue a ground-breaking, ambitious project led by excellent scientists with track-record of significant research achievements in the last 10 years. More information available HERE. Indicative deadline: 29.8.2024.
- Advanced Collaboration Grants (EMBO): funds the visits of 1 week to 6 months in the lab of collaborator in EMBO participating country to work on joint collaborative project with biological significance. More details are available HERE. Deadline: anytime.

III. Other News
GA CR
- New calls for proposals of GA CR projects are expected to be announced in the first half of February 2024. The Standard Projects, EXPRO, JUNIOR STAR, POSTDOC INDIVIDUAL FELLOWSHIP (in INCOMING and OUTGOING variants) and international projects will be announced. More information HERE.
ERC
- Registration for Workshops for ERC applicants organised by Technology Centre Prague and Expert Group for supporting ERC applicants will be open ONLY between 11. - 14. 4. 2024. The admission will be based on a „first come, first served“ basis. Please, read instruction HERE and contact your Project Support Office for help sufficiently in advance.
