I. Successful Projects
Four new GAMU CAREER RESTART projects will be supported at the Faculty of Science in 2025. The Career Restart program provides grants to scientists who have had interruptions in their research careers, such as parental leave or other significant reasons. This program aims to facilitate and accelerate the reintegration of young, talented researchers into productive scientific careers and to increase their representation in independent, senior research positions. The grants were awarded to:
Mgr. Dana Fialová, Ph.D. (Department of Experimental Biology) - Project “Ancient dental calculus as a tool of anthropology and paleogenetics”
RNDr. Jitka Vives, Ph.D. (Department of Experimental Biology) – Project “Applications of fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) analysis for the characterisation of cold-adapted oligotrophic bacteria from the Antarctic environment”
Mgr. Štěpánka Kelarová, Ph.D. (Department of Plasma Physics and Technology) – Project “Development of novel coatings for industrial and medical applications”
Mag. Katharina Neusser, Ph.D. (Department of Mathematics and Statistics) – Project “Rigid geometric structures and applications of Cartan connections”

- MSCA COFUND 2025_ co-finances new or existing doctoral programmes and postdoctoral fellowship schemes with the aim of spreading the best practices of the MSCA including international, inter-sectoral and interdisciplinary research training, as well as international and cross-sectoral mobility of researchers at all stages of their career. - MSCA Researchers at Risk 2024: more targeted and customised support for researchers at risk at European, national and institutional level. More details are available HERE. Deadline 14.1.2025.
- ERC Consolidator Grants (Horizon Europe): The ERC Consolidator Grants are designed to support excellent Principal Investigators in any field of study at the career stage at which they may still be consolidating their own independent research team or programme. - Advanced Collaboration Grants (EMBO): funds the visits of 1 week to 6 months in the lab of collaborator in EMBO participating country to work on joint collaborative project with biological significance. More details are available HERE. Deadline: anytime.
- New EIC Work Programme 2025 published for EIC Pathfinder, Accelerator and Transition schemes, the former being the most promising for multi-disciplinary research teams to undertake visionary research with the potential to lead to technology breakthroughs (grants up to €4 million).
