III. Other News

Government EXCELENCE program

The government has approved the EXCELENCE program. According to consultations with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, in our case this should mainly concern fuel for GAMU, and therefore one central project will be prepared for Masaryk University, the form of which we will discuss with you as soon as the conditions of the call are known (Q3, more likely Q4 2025). We expect only minor extensions or modifications to GAMU due to the project, according to the text of the call.

Choose Europe

The EC has unveiled a new initiative called Choose Europe to Start and Scale, which aims to make Europe an attractive environment for the creation and growth of technology companies. The strategy provides specific tools, funding, and legal simplification that are also relevant to the academic sector and university spin-offs.

  • Lab to Unicorn program – connecting research institutions with the market, supporting the creation of spin-offs, clearer rules for licensing and IP shares.
  • Funding opportunities – European Innovation Council, new Scaleup Europe Fund, and other tools.
  • Support for talent and internationalization – Blue Carpet Initiative, accelerated visa regimes for foreign start-up entrepreneurs.
  • Access to research infrastructure – planned Access Charter for innovative companies and researchers.
