I. Successful Projects
Ing. Kateřina Knotková (Department of Botany and Zoology) succeeded in the Climate and Environment call of the INTERREG Austria - Czech Republic 2021 - 2027 programe with the grant "PannFlora" worth 1 275 298 €. The aim of the project is to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change on grasslands in the Pannonian region of both countries. A complex approach to the problem will enable the selection of suitable plant species, the development of technologies for their production and the setting up of ecological procedures for the establishment and maintenance of new green areas.
RNDr. Petra Matulová, CSc. (National Centre for Biomolecular Research) succeeded in the call for proposals "Education, Culture and Tourism" of the INTERREG Austria - Czech Republic 2021 - 2027 programme with the partner grant "AT-CZ OPEN LABS" worth 1 154 614 €. The aim of the project is to create a cross-border network of educational laboratories, Including their modernisation and expansion of excellent education in natural sciences for students of primary, secondary and tertiary schools.
Doc. RNDr. Milan Jeřábek, Ph.D. (Department of Geography) succeeded in the call of the Local Initiative of the INTERREG Slovakia - Czech Republic 2021 - 2027 programme (Small Projects Fund) with the project "CZ-SK Town-twinning" worth 37 493 €. The aim of the project is to evaluate the state of cross-border town-twinning and the contribution of small and large INTERREG projects through in-house research and on-the-ground investigations.
Ing. RNDr. Martin Marek, Ph.D., MBA (RECETOX) received the prestigious GA CR EXPRO grant entitled “Resolving the puzzle of resonance energy transfer in bioluminiscence“.
Doc. Mgr. David Bednář, Ph.D. (RECETOX) received the prestigious GA CR JUNIOR STAR grant entitled “Development of methods and tools for engineering of next-generation thrombolytics for the treatment of stroke“.

GAMU - 2024 MASH call deadlines are approaching!
- MASH: The main aim of the grant is to bring excellent and successful external researchers to MU and to offer them such conditions that they are motivated to stay, work for MU and to attain exceptionally high-quality research results on the long-term basis. The call is open in 2 categories: MASH; MASH StG/CoG. More information available HERE. Deadline: 9.12.2024 (Faculty deadline: 29.11.2024).

MIT-Czech Republic IOCB Tech Foundation Seed Fund – call for 2024
- The program that was created in 2021 is a collaboration between MIT, the IOCB of the CAS, and its subsidiary IOCB Tech. It is now funded by the IOCB Tech Foundation, which contributes $100,000 per year to the program. The fund supports 3 to 5 new collaborations each year between scientists from CAS research institutes and universities in the Czech Republic and MIT partners, up to $25,000, with funding available to cover travel and accommodation costs associated with working meetings and research internships. Successful applicants will be decided by April of the following year and the first trips will be available in June 2025. The fund is open to all disciplines. CASCADE FUNDING
- AI REDGIO 5.0: Open call for innovative experiments. DDL 16.12.2024
The objective for the second open call of AI REDGIO 5.0 project is to select up to 10 SME-driven experiments focused on the implementation of AI at the Edge and Industry 5.0 systems with the aim of improving existing solutions, products or processes in the manufacturing area. Additionally, the open call will contribute to extend the domains of AI REDGIO 5.0 and benefit directly manufacturing SMEs and small mid-caps. The experiments are expected to cover 2 topics:
- TOPIC 1: AI-at-the-Edge – convergence between Data and AI continuum, Cloud, Edge, IoT technologies
- TOPIC 2: Industry 5.0 Human Centric and Sustainable-Circular Manufacturing, inspired by WISE principles
OPEN TOPICS
- Disaster-Resilient Society 2024 (HORIZON-CL3-2024-DRS-01). DDL 20.11.2024. Under the Open Topic, proposals are welcome to address new, upcoming or unforeseen challenges and/or creative or disruptive solutions for enhanced interactions among the scientific community, practitioners, city’s risk managers of major crises and citizens or local communities in the event of (natural or man-made) disasters, that are not covered by the other topics.
