Abstract:

The ergonomic design of products and work systems is important to ensure safe, healthy, and productive work environments. To create such work environments, anthropometric characteristics, among other things, must be considered. This presentation will focus on the collection of anthropometric data using a 3D whole-body scanner. Moreover, a methodological approach to generate representative data for a defined user group (e.g. working-age population of a specific country) will be presented. Finally, different methods for the analysis of anthropometric data within an ergonomic design process will be described.
