The award is presented by the Partnership Foundation to personalities or groups from the Czech Republic and abroad under three categories:
- for long-term benefits;
- for an exceptional act;
- and, for the second time, a category for young people under 33 years of age for the “Ekozásek” of the year.
This prestigious award is accompanied by a financial reward and a unique glass sculpture by the academic painter Vladimir Klein. The winners will receive their award on June 2 at the Senate on the eve of World Environment Day.
Last year’s winners include the young ecological Youtubers Eliška and Anna Víravova, long-time mayor of Brno's Nový Lískovec, Jana Drápalová, and Vavroušek’s contemporary and chairman of the Society for Sustainable Living, Jiří Dlouhý. The award was presented posthumously to climate activist Kristina Klosová, the award being accepted by her father, the environmental journalist Čestmír Klos.
Other holders of the prestigious award include over forty personalities from the Czech Republic and abroad, including the philosopher Erazim Kohák, several ex-ministers of the environment, scientists, entrepreneurs, farmers, politicians and educators. The winners are decided by a 14-member expert jury.
