An even more packed program than in the past three years, featuring educational tours and workshops, a sports program with a prestigious floorball derby, tastings of culinary specialties, and performances by musicians and bands. This is what MUNI DAY promises on Wednesday, May 13, at the Bohunice University Campus. Registration for this year’s event begins tomorrow at 3 p.m.

A university-wide day off has been declared for MUNI DAY. Students and the academic community can use this time off from classes to attend the event. All other employees are also welcome to participate, provided they coordinate their attendance with their department heads.

Flow Yoga or Volleyball
The sports program kicks off early in the morning with a variety of individual and group activities. In the Sports Studies Faculty’s fitness studio, you can choose from Flow Yoga, Street Dance, or Latin Dance classes. The martial arts gym invites you to stretch your entire body through self-defense, fitness boxing, or aerial Acro Yoga. Fit Office Yoga classes will focus on strengthening the back, while Pilates promises relief from prolonged sitting and back pain. Group sports will feature volleyball and badminton tournaments.

The highlight of the sports portion of the program will be the floorball derby starting at 2 p.m. in the Ball Sports Hall in Building E34, where a team of five city-center faculties, along with the Rector’s Office, will face off against a team of five faculties from the campus and the immediate vicinity. This prestigious showdown, dubbed CAMPUS vs. CITY, will be accompanied by performances by the MU Majorettes and the FUKS university club, as well as intermission contests.

Lab Tours and Lectures
Those who would prefer to enjoy a more relaxed morning can take one of the themed tours, for example at the CEITEC MU labs or the Faculty of Science. The MU Faculty of Medicine Simulation Center (SIMU), the most modern simulation center in Central Europe, equipped with facilities similar to those of a real hospital, will once again open its doors to visitors. Those interested in blood donation can tour the various sections of the Transfusion and Tissue Department at Brno University Hospital. You can also visit the Kejbaly school garden or the university greenhouses, where you’ll learn more about growing plants for scientific experiments. For the very first time, the Faculty of Science’s interactive science center, Bioskop, will join the program this year. Prior registration is required for all visits to laboratories, centers, and the museum.

Registration for MUNI DAY opens on April 14 at 3:00 p.m.

Outdoor Open-Air Fun
In addition to sports and educational tours, MUNI DAY will offer a rich social program that will liven up the parking lot area near the Faculty of Sports Studies in the afternoon. There will be a food zone featuring meat and vegetarian specialties, as well as opportunities to unwind with korfball and pétanque at outdoor stations. From the afternoon until late evening, concerts by bands and DJ sets will liven up the stage.

Just like last year, Masaryk University alumni are also welcome to join the all-day program, giving them the opportunity to meet up with their classmates and teachers on campus.

New: Film Festival
This year, the Masaryk University Faculty of Informatics Film Festival will be joining MUNI DAY for the first time. Now in its 26th year and subtitled “Zarezonuj,” the festival will present part of its program on campus. Screenings of short films will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium of Pavilion B22.

Whether you want to come to MUNI DAY to play sports, enjoy the cultural program, sample culinary specialties, or just soak up the relaxed atmosphere, don’t forget to register in advance. Registration opens on April 14 at 3:00 p.m. You can find all the important information on social media and the website, where you’ll also find a video from last year’s event.
