Foundations of University Teaching Excellence

For the autumn semester, CERPEK has prepared an English version of popular Pedagogical Competence Development Workshop for PhD students, which focuses on the intensive and active development of competencies needed for teaching. At Masaryk University, we consider it crucial to improve the quality of teaching and the professional development of PhD students. We believe that the care given to PhD students leads to an increase in their motivation and acquisition of required teaching skills. This attitude may also increase student satisfaction with the quality of teaching. Do not hesitate and sign up for the Educational Workshop as soon as possible; the course is only open to 20 people.

Career Development Workshops for PhD Students and Postdoctoral Fellows of MU Faculty of Science

During April and May 2022, as part of the implementation of the faculty’s HR Award action plan, we have organised three English workshops for Early Stage Researchers of the Faculty of Science of MU.

On April 28, 2022, a workshop for PhD students entitled "My Future Career Path after PhD" was held at Kotlářská premises. The aim of this workshop was to help PhD students clarify their preferences and priorities in the field of work and career.

On April 29, 2022, a workshop for Postdoctoral Fellows entitled "Academic Career Planning - What to Keep in Mind" was held in person at the Campus. Its goal was to acquaint Early Stage Researchers with the formal and informal requirements associated with starting their academic careers and to clarify what to focus on and what to pay attention to at each stage of their career.

Both trainings were led by lecturers from the Czech Academy of Sciences Mgr. Kateřina Cidlinská, Ph.D. & Mgr. Kateřina Machovcová, Ph.D.

On May 11, 2022, an online workshop "Cross-Cultural Differences in Communication and Professional Cooperation" was held for the same group. The lecturer, PaedDr. Eva Gáboríková, PhD, ACC, M.A., prepared an interactive program with the aim of introducing the participants to the values that are key for communication and cooperation across cultures and to learn how to prevent misunderstandings arising from differences between cultures.

All these workshops were funded from the project of the Ministry of Education and Science, Human Resources Development, and International Orientation of Research at MU.

We thank the participants for their interest and active approach, and we believe that they have found the workshops enriching and inspiring.

Wishing you a pleasant upcoming summer
