Dear Colleagues, 

Some of you have already received an invitation, while others are learning about the event just now – therefore, we would like to remind the unique opportunity to come together at our internal conference “How to Handle Leadership: Honestly about What Leaders Really Need”. 

The conference is intended for everyone who bears responsibility for a team or group – whether leading a small research team, an entire department, holding a formal or informal role, working in an academic or support position, or preparing for a leadership role in the future. It will offer inspiration, practical advice, and the chance to openly share experiences across the faculty. 

What you can look forward to: 

• An inspiring afternoon dedicated to the topic of leadership in the academic environment. 

• The main theme will be inclusive leadership, with an emphasis on working with different categories of employees according to age, life situation or motivation. 

• We will present the educational program that will accompany us until the end of the project (05/26). (Your participation in the conference does not oblige you to attend the workshops. The individual workshops will be designed for approximately 15 participants each, and will be held in both Czech and English.) 

 The two main blocks of the conference will feature: 

• Domestic and international speakers from academia: 

• Prof. Dr. Burcu Özsoy (Director of the Polar Research Institute) 

• Assoc. Prof. PhDr. Martina Rašticová, Ph.D. (Head of Department – Department of Management, Faculty of Business and Economics, Mendel University). 

• Experts from psychology and the private sector: 

• Martin Janáček (Director of the Brno branch of SAP Labs) 

• Mgr. Michal Hummel (lecturer, psychologist, and coach) 

• This will be followed by a moderated panel discussion with representatives of the Faculty of Science MU: Prof. Mgr. Norbert Werner, Ph.D., Mgr. Peter Fabian, Ph.D., Mgr. Marie Kotasová Adámková, Ph.D., RNDr. Petra Přibylová, Ph.D.

• Date and time: 16 October 2025, 12:30–5:00 PM 

• Venue: University Campus Library in Bohunice 

• Target group: Academic and non-academic staff in leadership positions 

• Conference language: Czech with simultaneous translation into English
