We will describe the strongylid nematode communities of orangutans, the only Asian great ape. Collaborating internationally with the Primate Research Institute, Japan, we will apply our novel sequencing approach for strain level identification of entire strongylid communities, also describing them in other sympatric primates. Through comparison with our existing data on Africa great apes, we aim to shed light on phylogeny vs. ecology as drivers of strongylid communities in Asian great apes.
