Information about MU and the Faculty measures in connection with the ongoing epidemic
Please read carefully the following information about MU and the Faculty measures in connection with the ongoing epidemic.
Based on emergency measures of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic, the in-person presence of students at university is prohibited. This applies to all students, including DSP. Students that are simultaneously employees of the faculty, i.e., have an agreement to perform work are excluded.
Till May 15, 2020 all direct contact instructions, individual consultations, and laboratory work are cancelled. This might be extended further based on the development of the epidemic. Teachers can determine alternative non-contact way of realization of teaching and the fulfillment of ongoing study requirements.
All contact forms of examinations are canceled, including state examinations and defense of final theses. Individual examinations and individual consultation may be permitted only in exceptional cases where these cannot be delayed, or other means of communication are not possible. The exceptions shall be granted by the Vice-Dean for Student Affairs in the case of Bc. and Mgr. students and Vice-Dean for science, research, foreign relations, and doctoral studies for doctoral students.
The cancellation of direct contact instruction does not apply to student internships, internships, temporary jobs, etc. taking place at third parties’ workplaces. Nor does it apply to situations where credits are assessed by providing community service (volunteering), even if they are carried out at MU. These cases are not considered contact instruction at MU and are excluded from the Government's Declaration of Emergency. These internships, temporary jobs, community service, etc. can, therefore, take place as long as the other legal and restrictions on free movement are respected.
Consultation and other communication between students, academics and all other employees will be carried out to the maximum extent possible by means of remote communication (telephone, e-mail, teleconferencing via MS Teams, and etc.). Where possible the study guarantors will provide self-study materials online or ways of distance learning.
Libraries are closed to students. Please use preferably electronic information sources.
The business hours of the Student Affairs and Doctoral Studies Departments are canceled. If you need attention, please email the staff.
All foreign trips (Erasmus, etc.) are canceled. When returning from international travel, respect the measures of the Czech Government:
Teaching staff can determine alternative non - contact way of instructions and the fulfillment of ongoing study requirements.

Once the ending date of the emergency measures is known, the faculty management will decide on a further course of teaching in the 2020 Spring semester. There will likely be a change in the schedule - an extension of the deadline for the submission of final reports, semestral teaching, and the examination period. Preliminary info can be found at https://www.sci.muni.cz/clanky/informace-o-odevzdavani-zaverecnych-praci-a-statnich-zaverecnych-zkouskach-v-js-2020.
Faculty management, directors of departments, guarantors of programs, and teachers will make every effort to ensure that the Spring semester 2020 can conclude properly even in these challenging conditions.
