BIOSKETCH AND RESEARCH INTERESTS

Martina Bílková holds a Bachelor's degree (2012) in Systematic Biology and Ecology and a Master's degree (2014) in Ecological and Evolutionary Biology from Masaryk University's Faculty of Science. Her bachelor's thesis was on the "Variability of aquatic invertebrates of spring fens in the Region Kysuce", her master's thesis "Geographical and ecological variability of clitellate (Clitellata) assemblages in spring fens of the Western Carpathians" expanded this topic. Both thesis were conducted under the supervision of Associate Professor Dr. Jana Schenková. In 2015-2016 she worked on the project "Annelids of isolated micro-wetlands: from water to soil" (Czech National Foundation - GAČR) and in 2018-2021 on the project “Impact of snowmaking on biological components of the natural environment on the territory of the Giant Mountains National Park and its buffer zone (Technological Agency of the Czech Republic - TAČR). From 2020 she has been mainly employed on the project "Soil-dwelling microannelid assemblages as a reflection of environmental characteristics" (Inter-Cost; Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports). These project have been all led by Associate Professor Dr. Jiří Schlaghamerský. By working with him primarily on the identification of soil-dwelling enchytraeids (Annelida: Clitellata: Enchytraeidae) she became an experienced identifier of this difficult group and gradually moved from the department's Hydrobiology Research Group to the Terrestrial Invertebrate Research Group. Nevertheless, Martina also continues to work on aquatic annelids in collaboration with our hydrobiologists (e.g. idetification of oligochaetous Clitellata, monitoring of medicinal leech populations).
