Frequency

In groups studied quantitatively, the frequency of occurrence (in a series of samples) can be expressed. The value of frequency are affected, first of all, by the dominance (the dominant species usually showing the highest frequency), population density and dispersion of individuals of each species. In case of uniform dispersion, high frequency is already found in limited numbers of samples:

F1

very scarce up to 10%

F2

scarce 11-25%

F3

medium frequent 26-45%

F4

frequent 46-70%

F5

very frequent 71-100%
