JUICE.NET is the first tool in vegetation ecology capable of generating vegetation profile diagrams from phytosociological relevés.

Vegetation profile example

Each image is assembled using a freely accessible R script that combines individual plant illustrations into a complete profile view. Most species illustrations were created with the help of the DALL·E model, which was used to enhance photographs of overall plant habit specifically taken for this purpose. Some species were generated without photographic reference or based on existing photographs available on Pladias.cz.

The visual appearance of the plants is adapted to ensure that each species can be recognized by its general habit. As a result, fine morphological details and subtle differences between closely related taxa are not identifiable in the illustrations.

Special thanks go to Pavel Veselý and Milan Chytrý, who kindly provided their own photographs for this project.

Currently, our database includes hundreds of species, enabling meaningful construction of vegetation profiles for a substantial portion of Central European vegetation. The number, accuracy, and visual quality of profile images will continue to grow in order to achieve vegetation diagrams as realistic and faithful as possible.

Limitations:
The program is currently capable of meaningfully constructing profiles of non-forest terrestrial vegetation and the herb layer of forest vegetation. It is not suitable for displaying complete forest vegetation profiles or fully submerged aquatic communities.
