An A-Z of Vegetable Cooking

We didn't post anything for December 2014 because we needed the break, and because the things we were planning on making for the Holiday season we either already presented (Ukranian Christmas Cake, Vareniki, Borscht), are found elsewhere in the Baker Creek Seeds publications (Hoppin' John), or weren't vegetarian (we make our year's supply of sausage - this year Spanish Chorizo, Chicken Green Chile, and Hot Italian - during the week between Christmas and New Year). And, Jeff needed to concentrate on some of his science activities.

But, we're back now. Our friends at Baker Creek Seeds (who sponsor this blog) have asked us to do something different in 2015 and 2016. Rather than talking about the history and ecology of various world cuisines, we're going to work through their seed catalog from the first category (Amaranth) to the last (Watermelon), and share excellent vegetarian recipes within each category.

If we keep at the schedule of 9 recipes (or 3 vegetable types) per month, this project will take 18 months to complete! We may take a month off again at some time during this stretch, so this project may take the better part of 2 years to finish. We hope you'll enjoy checking in frequently to see how far we've progressed and to find some recipes that you'd like to try.
