Our mission is to uncover the missing pieces towards more efficient and less damaging therapies for children with aggressive cancers.
Since its founding at the Department of Experimental Biology, our lab has been dedicated to investigating solid tumors, with a major focus on those affecting children. We operate in close collaboration with the Department of Pediatric Oncology (University Hospital Brno), one of two comprehensive pediatric oncology centers in the Czech Republic, and we prioritize research projects that are closely connected to clinical practice. Our main goal is to uncover new insights into tumor biology that can improve diagnosis and prognosis, guide personalized treatment, and enhance understanding of the molecular and cellular mechanisms driving cancer development and progression. We further advance our most promising findings through the interlinked activities of the Laboratory Oncology Translational Research group (International Clinical Research Center, Brno), aiming to translate our discoveries from bench to bedside.
