Department of Botany and Zoology
Faculty of Science, Masaryk University
The department is a modern research and educational institution focused on biosystematics and ecology. It studies the diversity and ecological relationships of plants and animals in changing ecosystems, with an emphasis on phylogeny, classification, and vegetation ecology. It engages in both basic and applied research and collaborates with many national and international institutions. Teaching and the transfer of scientific knowledge into practice are also an integral part of the department's activities.
The Vegetation Research working group focuses on the diversity of plant communities and the factors influencing their distribution in the landscape. It deals with species composition, vegetation dynamics, and changes related to climate and human activity. The results contribute to nature conservation, ecological restoration, and the development of expert databases such as Pladias, the Czech National Phytosociological Database, and the European Vegetation Archive.

Agricultural Research Ltd.
Agricultural Research Ltd. is a private research institution established under the EU framework. It focuses on both applied and basic research in agriculture, natural sciences, and food sciences.
The Department of Genetic Resources specializes in the study of genetic resources and biodiversity of forage and meadow species. It also develops seed mixtures that increase biodiversity in the landscape.
The institution holds dozens of utility models and patents for specialized seed mixtures for various uses. Among the most successful are the patented Sahara and Panonia mixtures.
The team also has extensive experience with the cultivation of various plant species, seed harvesting, and cleaning. The workplace is equipped with the necessary technology for small-plot trials, cultivation areas, their maintenance, care, and seed harvest. Seed cleaning, storage, packaging, and sales are carried out using its own post-harvest line.

Bio Forschung Austria is a non-university research institute based in Vienna. For more than 40 years, it has focused on practical questions of organic farming and the development of sustainable land-use strategies in urban environments. Main research areas include soil health and humus formation, circular economy and composting, biological pest control, and climate and nature protection. Research is carried out in close cooperation with farmers and local institutions. Knowledge transfer to both practitioners and the general public is a key part of the institute's mission – through workshops and seminars on field and vineyard management, soil conservation, (agro)biodiversity, and applied ecology.
