Welcome to the official site of the Czech Society for Extracellular Vesicles!

WHAT ARE EXTRACELLULAR VESICLES?

Extracellular vesicles (EV) are tiny, membrane-enclosed structures actively secreted by cells across diverse biological contexts to transfer proteins, lipids, and genetic material between cells. They come in types like exosomes and ectosomes, playing a vital role in communication within the body. EV have gained considerable attention in various fields of research, including cell biology, cancer research, immunology, and regenerative medicine, due to their role in cell communication, disease progression, and therapeutic potential. Researchers are exploring their use as biomarkers for various diseases and as potential delivery vehicles for therapeutic molecules. Want to learn more?

NEWS & EVENTS

1st EV4 Conference – Registration Opens on July 1

We are pleased to announce the 1st EV4 Conference: Extracellular Vesicles in Visegrad Collaboration, taking place on October 21–22, 2026 at Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary, bringing together researchers from across the Visegrad region and beyond to discuss the latest developments in extracellular vesicle research and strengthen scientific collaborations. Practical workshops and demos will take place at a pre-conference day on October 20, 2026.

Important Dates

  • Registration and abstract submission open: July 1, 2026
  • Abstract submission deadline: September 5, 2026

Further information, including registration fees, abstract guidelines, and the preliminary programme, is available on the conference website.

CzeSEV Travel Grants for EV4 meeting 2026

The grants provide financial support of up to 10,000 CZK per person to help cover costs related to conference participation, including registration, travel, and accommodation.The travel grants are available to students and researchers at all career stages who are CzeSEV members in 2026 and who actively contribute to the conference programme (e.g., through an oral presentation or poster). Successful applicants may receive the financial support in advance of the conference.

How to apply
Applicants should send their application by email to czesev@sci.muni.cz by 16 August 2026.

The application should include:

  *   full name and affiliation;
  *   career stage (e.g., MSc student, PhD student, postdoctoral researcher, researcher);
  *   title and a short abstract of the planned contribution to EV4 2026;
  *   type of contribution (oral presentation or poster, if known);
  *   brief estimate of expected expenses (registration, travel, accommodation);

Applications will be evaluated by the CzeSEV committee based on the relevance and quality of the proposed contribution, career stage of the applicant, and need for financial support. Selected applicants will be informed after the evaluation process. The number of awarded grants depends on the available CzeSEV budget and the number of eligible applications.

WHO ARE WE?

CzeSEV, a community of researchers dedicated to the study of exosomes, ectosomes and other cell-derived vesicles from both eukaryotic and prokaryotic sources, achieved official society status in March 2024.

If you're interested in joining CzeSEV, we welcome you to complete the application and submit it to czesev@sci.muni.cz. For additional details regarding CzeSEV and membership opportunities, please visit Membership section on our website.

Fueled by Enthusiasm:

CzeSEV is so far a very small organization and lives only through the enthusiasm and activity of its few members.

OUR MISSION

Connect & Collaborate

CzeSEV unites senior researchers, early-career scientists, students, and industry professionals throughout the Czech Republic. Our goal is to facilitate connections, foster collaboration, and build bridges within the EV research community.

Knowledge Exchange

We provide a robust platform for sharing experiences and knowledge related to extracellular vesicles. Our community thrives on the exchange of ideas, experiences, and discoveries.

International Society for Extracellular Vesicles Partners

As proud members of ISEV, we are contributing to the ISEV mission of advancing EV research for better understanding of EV biology and their use in clinics. We advocate for EVs by endorsing the EV topic during our lectures as well as by promoting the ISEV standards for EV research.
