Research activities
  • Structural biology, glycobiochemistry, biomolecular interactions, structure-functional genomics, bioinformatics, separation and analytical techniques in biochemistry. Initially focused on plant and microbial enzymes and their utilizing in clinical and industrial applications, construction of enzyme biosensors, and preparation of specially labelled proteins for NMR studies of protein-ligand interactions. Later on, oriented to studies of enzymes participating in the degradation of xenobiotics in the environment.
  • At present, research has been focused on glycobiochemistry, oriented mainly to bioinformatics, structure-function studies of proteins, which participate on glycoconjugates synthesis (glycosyltransferases) or recognition (lectins) and are related to pathogenesis.
