Speakers: Petr Daněk, Pavel Doboš

The war in the east of Ukraine, which has been going on with alternating intensity since 2014, affects each of us. What do we know about what's going on there? Where runs the war front? Why do people flee even from places far from ground fighting? How is life in the occupied territories? How are our ideas of distant unknown places reflected in our actions and attitudes towards refugees from these places who live among us? We will look for answers to these questions. The aim of the seminar is not to present some hidden, "true" interpretation of the war conflict, but to create a space for discussing the facts that reach us through the news or people fleeting those places, in the geographical context above the map.

Format: introductory presentation and discussion.
