Conversations about the universe - part 2

In the second part of the ‘Conversations on Space’, filmed by colleagues from our Department of Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics, Norbert Werner and Samuel Kováčik talked about the results of the SRG / eROSITA X-ray satellite, the return of the Hayabusa 2 and Chang'e 5 missions and the future of lunar missions; however, their main theme was the democratisation of space.

Norbert Werner shared his experiences of the Japanese Hitomi mission and the large mission of the European Space Agency, Athena. The scientists also discussed new possibilities arising from the use of nanosatellites and medium-sized satellites, which are closely related to the development of commercial companies such as SpaceX and Blue Origin. How does the operation of these commercial companies differ from large space agencies such as NASA and ESA? What can we look forward to in astronautics over the next ten years? Will the greater availability of satellites overwhelm Earth’s orbital space?
