International success of young mathematicians

1 Mar 2020 Petr Zemánek

A few weeks ago the International Team Internet Mathematical Olympiad took place. We were represented by a team of (former and current) students of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics composed of Vít Jelínek, Martin Kurečka, Tomáš Perutka and Filip Svoboda. Despite the strong competition from about 140 teams, mostly from Eastern Europe and the Middle East, our team managed to reach the top positions and improve their excellent results from the last year. In the so-called "blitz" part (based only on correct results obtained in a short time limit) they were placed 3rd (last year 8th) and in the classic championship (requiring a detailed solution) placed 4th (just like last year).

Congratulations and many thanks for a great representation.
