The proposed project is focused on the study of kinetic processes taking place during discharges and the postdischarge in nitrogen and its mixtures with oxygen and argon with some traces. The radiofrequency and microwave plasma sources (both in continuous and pulsed regime) will be designed to create the discharges at moderate pressures up to atmospheric pressure. The low pressure DC discharge will be used as the reference for kinetic study. The plasmas will be observed by optical emission and absorption spectroscopies including the spectra numeric simulations and in-situ ESR spectroscopy. The vibrationally state-specified model of the discharge and post-discharge kinetics will be created and confronted with the experimental results. As the direct application the chemical analysis of selected elements is proposed and thus the new techniques of analytic sample introduction will be designed. Besides this applicaion, the results could be applied in fields of plasma sterilization, surface treatment and in monitoring of the environmental quality. The project is a successor of CSF project 202/05/0111 Study of Kinetic Processes in Nitrogen Post-Discharge with Respect to Their Use in Chemical Analysis, that is actually worked on nearly the same research team.
