Phonon anomalies in two-leg ladder copper-oxide compounds

The aim is to clarify the origin of the so called phonon anomalies occurring in the a-axis (along the rung) infrared optical response of two-leg ladder copper-oxide compounds. Results of our model calculations will be compared with experimental data obtained by our collaborators from Fribourg university.
Our study will contribute to understanding of hole pairing, superconductivity and charge modulations in the ladders and in the high-temperature cuprate superconductors.
