Recently, it was found that estrogen and testosterone differentially alter the expression of genes involved in innate immunity, i.e., genes encoding TLRs and IFNs affecting different responses to viral infections. In this project, the androgen regulation in cyprinid hybrids will be analyzed using transcriptome analyses. The potential consequences of gene disruption or misexpression on fish vigor in relation to virus infection will be studied.
