The main objective of the Project is to support the sustainable implementation of the Global Monitoring Plan (GMP) for persistent organic pollutants (POPs) under the Stockholm Convention. This includes the upgrading and maintenance of the GMP Data Warehouse for the storage and sharing of global POPs monitoring data, as well as generating data to support preparation of the fourth regional monitoring reports to be submitted to the Conference of the Parties to the Stockholm Convention.
The specific objectives of the Project are to support the following activities:
- Upgrading and maintenance of the GMP Data Warehouse hosted by RECETOX;
- Shipment of exposed air and water samples collected under the United Nations Environment Programme project funded by the Global Environment Facility (UNEP/GEF project) for laboratory analysis at RECETOX in support of the fourth global monitoring plan (GMP-4);
- Laboratory analysis of the samples shipped to RECETOX contributing to GMP-4.
