The quaternary Ni-Al-Cr-Co and Ni-Al-Cr-W systems represent relatively simple yet sufficiently representative model for commercial Ni-based superalloys. The microstructure of these systems and the kinetics of phase transformations (** precipitation in bu lk, intermetallic and carbidic phases at internal interfaces) in course of thermal treatment at typical service temperatures will be studied experimentally by analytical microscopic techniques. Microstructure will be correlated with mechanical properties (compression creep tests at high temperature, hardness). The experimentally obtained phase data will be used as an input for thermodynamic modelling of equilibrium phase diagrams of above mentioned systems in the region of */** coexistence. The main res ult will be the establishment of phase diagram sections in the concentration and temperature ranges of interest for superalloy applications.
