From Labs to Life: PhD Journeys Unplugged

CRYTUR, spol. s r.o. in cooperation with CareerMarket.cz announces a competition for the best diploma thesis in material sciences. The aim of the competition is to reward the authors of the best theses with a focus on material sciences, thus encouraging their efforts to apply the acquired knowledge in practice and highlighting innovative practices. Prizes are also intended for thesis supervisors.
Prizes for the winners:
The competition is open to Master's students at Czech and Slovak universities focusing on materials science (study of physical and chemical properties of materials, technology of processing and preparation of materials, application of materials in physical fields). The thesis must be submitted for defence between 1 October 2021 and 30 September 2022. The thesis must be written in Czech, Slovak or English.
Qualification criteria:
Those interested in taking part in the competition must deliver a completed and signed application form with the required attachments (affidavit, statement of the supervisor on 1 A4 page, 1 copy of the thesis in a ring binder) to the address of the competition organiser – MEDICOMP s.r.o., CRYTUR Award, Prouskova 1724, 511 01 Turnov by 30 September 2022.
The submission of the diploma thesis can be extended by agreement until 15 October 2022. The application form and attachments together with further information on the competition rules are available on the competition website (in CZ).

The Czech national team achieved an extraordinary triumph at the International Earth Science Olympiad (IESO 2025), a prestigious competition for high school students from around the world. The event, held in Jining, China, from August 7 to 17, 2025, tested both theoretical knowledge and practical skills across disciplines such as geology, hydrology, climatology, astronomy, and environmental science. In addition, the competition evaluated research capabilities and teamwork.
