Basic scientific research on various properties of possible lead-free solder materials and thorough and critical compilation of the existing information about low melting point alloys
will be performed.
Project belongs to Working group 2 (WG2) of Action COST 531, which will carry out the theoretical modelling of the phase diagrams. Using the data from the literature as well as new data from Working Group 1, the phase diagrams of the new solder materials will be optimized using the so-called CALPHAD (calculation of phase diagrams) method. This provides an optimum version of the phase diagram which is consistent with the thermodynamic data for the respective alloy system and which will made possible to predict phase equilibria in complex systems.
