The project is aimed at the synthesis of new inorganic-organic polymeric materials and studies of their properties. The syntheses will start from organic derivatives of phosphoric and phosphonic acids, and tertiaary phosphine oxides,, reacting with metal salts and oxides, and from the more complex molecular building units. By hydrothermal and solvothermal methods, hydrolytic and nonhydrolytic condensations and self-assembly driven processes, the precursors will form layered and 3D-framework organic-inorganic hybrid materials and coordination polymers. Their compositions, structures, and physicochemical properties will be studied. The structures will be determined by X-ray diffraction and NMR spectroscopy methods, porosity will be examined by adsorption isotherms of gases, and optical properties will be investigated by time-resolved and steady-state luminescence spectroscopies. The results will serve as a feedback for the modification of starting organic ligands and other molecular precursors in the search for optimal pore characteristics and optical properties of the studied materials.
