The aim of the present project is to conduct interdisplinary geophysical, geodetic and geological research in the West Bohemian earthquake swarm region. The joint interpretation of geophysical, geodetic and geological data from this challenging natural l aboratory should contribute in a decisive manner to the understanding of the relationships among frequent earthquake swarms, surface deformations, subrecent volcanism, heat-flow, activity of mineral water springs and crustal structure. The expected resul ts should form the basis for the elucidation of the causes of recurrent accumulation of stress in the Earth's crust in the region resulting in repeated seismsic energy release in the form of intensive earthquake swarms. The project takes advantage of pre vious results obtained within the KTB-related project 'Geological model of Western Bohemia in relation to the deep borehole KTB in the FRG' as well as within former GA ČR grant projects No. 205/93/2523 'Seismic regime of the West-Bohemian earthquake swar
