From Labs to Life: PhD Journeys Unplugged
From coffee breaks to career tips, students explored the twists and turns of the PhD journey with those who’ve walked the path before them.
On Friday, September 27, 2019, the Science Night was held all over the Czech Republic, an event for all science lovers and enthusiasts. This year was in the spirit of "Environmentally friendly".
On this day, the Faculty of Science opened its campuses in Kotlářská and Bohunice. Over 1,500 visitors arrived at Kotlářská and over 3,200 people interested in science, did not miss the program in Bohunice, where the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Sports Studies also had their activities.
The Faculty of Science has prepared a program for children and adults. In total, 55 activities could be visited, including chemical experiments, insect tasting, laboratory visits, gold panning, and volcano eruptions. The activities aimed to bring science closer to the general public and to educate visitors following the theme "Environmentally friendly". The interest of visitors in science was huge.

The Czech national team achieved an extraordinary triumph at the International Earth Science Olympiad (IESO 2025), a prestigious competition for high school students from around the world. The event, held in Jining, China, from August 7 to 17, 2025, tested both theoretical knowledge and practical skills across disciplines such as geology, hydrology, climatology, astronomy, and environmental science. In addition, the competition evaluated research capabilities and teamwork.
