In this pilot project, we would like to focus on multiomics analysis of epigenomic alterations (the level of DNA methylation) in cord blood in both preterm infants and full-term infants, and to investigate associations of these alterations with chemical exposures of their mothers during pregnancy measured in blood and urine.
AIM 1: to isolate DNA from the cord blood of 40 preterm infants and 40 full-term infants
AIM 2: to analyze the level of DNA methylation and to calculate and compare the epigenetic age in 40 preterm infants and 40 full-term infants
AIM 3: to create a data framework using a mathematical model that predicts the risk of preterm birth, enabling the automated integration of clinical, genomic, and exposure data
