The Festival of Science and Technology became green once again thanks to our natural scientists

On September 6–8, 2024, enthusiastic and smiling green T-shirted natural scientists once again lit up Pavilion A of the Brno Exhibition Centre and its surroundings with their green tents. Almost a hundred students and employees spread scientific knowledge, explained rules and demonstrated practical skills from their specialisations at fourteen sites. As always, those interested in mathematics could enjoy the playfulness and wit of the Science Theatre.

As a result of the flood emergency and the postponement of the start of classes, we also postponed the Dean's Grill by one week.

IT Equipment loan for students in need

The Faculty of Science has been provided with 14 laptops, 25 tablets, 22 graphics tablets, 9 headphones with a microphone and webcams with a microphone from a MU project to support online education. Offered IT equipment is intended for students in need and will be provided as a loan.

Studying abroad will advance you in many ways, says Hana Bernardová, a recent graduate student at the University of Oxford

The University of Oxford is among the world's most prestigious and highly-ranked universities. It was this university that attracted the attention of the talented student Hana Bernardová from Valašské Meziříčí. Hana has been involved in scientific work since her studies at grammar school. She has won several awards for participating in the Secondary School Professional Activities (SOČ), including the Czech Little Head Award 2020, the J. Heyrovský Foundation Award, and the Learned Society of the Czech Republic Prize. This July, Hanka graduated from her Master's studies at Oxford as the 3rd best student in her class.

Information about the start of classes

The Dean has decided that if a student cannot attend classes because of the floods or is involved in efforts to deal with the damages will be automatically excused. Should the situation continue past the first week of classes, students should contact the Students’ office for individual consultation.

Free and unlimited publishing at the RSC

Masaryk University allows its authors to publish free of charge and without restrictions in Open Access mode with the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). Free publication is possible in hybrid and fully open access journals (Gold Open Access). This allows authors to publish an unlimited number of articles without paying APC (article processing charge) from their own resources.

Masaryk University cancels first week of classes

At today's emergency meeting, the Rector's Board of Masaryk University decided to cancel the first week of classes across all faculties. Due to the floods in the Czech Republic, classes will be postponed until Monday, September 23. Scheduled events, including the Garden Party and the Deans' Barbecue, have also been cancelled.

Support for projects in the Proof of Concept (PoC) phase

On September 2, TTO MUNI announced a call for projects in the Proof of Concept phase. The call is focused on verification of applied research results in terms of their practical application and preparation of their subsequent commercial use or use for the needs of society.
